7 months

Keagan surprised us Sunday morning with two top teeth! Sean and I were so surprised! Keagan was a little more fussy on Saturday than normal but other than that he really didn't show any other signs of teething. I will try to get a few pictures of his new pearly whites. We have a new Sunday morning tradition in the Burke household. Sean and I have never co-slept with Keagan, its just not something that we want to get started. We do make one tiny exception for Sunday mornings. When Keagan wakes up one of us gets him and we bring him into our bed. We all snuggle up close and just spend time together. I love these moments. I think this will be a memory that will stay with me for a long time. Normally no one goes back to sleep but this Sunday we all fell back asleep. I hope we continue this for a long time.

Sean and I are really trying to be healthy these days. I think Keagans surgery really started us in the right direction. I think the reality that one of us may have to give Keagan a kidney one day has really hit home. We have been trying to eat super healthy and workout everyday. Giving up Soda has been the hardest for me. I'm not a coffee drinker so coke is my only help in the morning. Sean is a huge coffee drinker so he is definitely feeling the lack of caffeine in the mornings. Keagan is really enjoying our family workouts. He loves riding in the jogging stroller when we run. The park behind our house has a baby swing so we stop there and take a much needed break. I will have to take some pictures. In other news Keagan is a sitting pro! He actually started sitting the day of his surgery. We didn't think it would last long because he would be in pain and not want to sit up. He can now sit in a grocery cart while I shop. This is such a help because he is so heavy in the his car seat. I can barely lift him in the car seat anymore. Here he is at his favorite store babies r us!You will notice in the picture that he is holding a piece of paper. He loves any type of paper and always wants to "help" you with any type of reading material. He loves to tear up the paper and stick it in his mouth. I don't know why we buy him toys he would much rather play with a page from a magazine. This has its advantages and its disadvantages. He was fussy at church a few weeks ago and I let him hold the weekly bulletin. He calmed down and the began to stuff the whole thing in his mouth. Lovely! He was dressed so cute and looked like a perfect angel with a giant wad of paper hanging out of his mouth. When the drool became to much I removed to paper from his mouth and quickly shoved it in my bag. My mother was already giving me a sideways look at my paper chewing baby. Here are some cute pictures of him in his church clothes..

the lone kidney..

Keagans surgery was on Friday and everything went really well. He is doing better than expected. We had to be at medical city around noon. He surgery wasn't until 2:30 so Sean and I were concerned about how we were going to pass the time with a hungry baby. After the first check in we had about an hour left until the surgery time. The nurses were amazing and really helped pass the time and calm our nerves. Keagan watched a baby Einstein video and played with a few toys. He looked so cute in his little hospital gown.
The Doctors came in, we said our goodbyes and a hour and a half later he was done!! He was so sleepy! we were moved to a private room where Sean and I spent the night. During Keagans surgery he was given an spinal block to block the pain in his abdomen for 12 hours. In addition to this he received morphine every 2 hours around the clock. I really didn't realize how serious this surgery was. The Dr. told us that the average adult spends 5 days in the hospital after this kind of surgery. We are so happy that he is doing so well!

army helmet

Sorry it has been such a long time since I wrote last! The days just seem to go by so fast. Keagan is growing like a weed!! He is changing every day and his personality is really starting to show. Keagan got his Helmet on today. So far he seems to be adjusting just fine. They said that he should only have to wear it 3-4 months!! Then he will have a perfect shaped head! Sean and I hate that he has to wear it but in the long run it will be worth it. Keagan really doesn't seem to notice that he has it on. One of the only downsides is that his head get really sweaty. We decided to go with a plain blue color and then decorate it with stickers.
