I hate you SWINE FLU

Sean and I both have had the Swine flu and it is the worst. I haven't felt this bad in a long time. Keagan spent the whole week with his Nana and Mamie. We really cant thank them enough. We both just slept the week away. Sean is feeling much better, but I still feel about the same. So far Keagan has not gotten sick. Lets keep our fingers crossed!

12 months

Keagan had his 12 month well visit on Friday. Poor thing, I hate when he has to have shots! This visit he received 4 shots and a TB test. Two of the vaccines were live vaccines. This was the first time that he had every received a live vaccine. The nurse explained that hardly any children have a reaction blah blah blah...WELL Keagan had one! He was running a high fever, wouldn't eat or drink, VERY fussy, had a swollen spot from the injection and was covered in tiny spots!! I of course freak out and think he has chicken pox because that is another side effect from one of the vaccines. But, thank the lord he didn't. He weighs 22lbs and is 29 inches long. So he is in the 30% for both height and weight. He is also cutting his 12 month molars, so that has been really exciting!

Keagan is more active than ever. He is such a busy boy. He really keeps us busy. Here are some things that he is up to:
He stands alone for long periods of time

He still takes two naps a day, usually around two hours a piece

He can point out objects by name from books

Takes a few steps at a time before falling, He can walk all over the house
using his walking toy

We are contemplating turning our back living room into a playroom for Keagan. He has so many toys and we are running out of room. I think it would be really cute! We will see what happens. I will take photos of the transformation, after I convince Sean! Sorry for the lack of pictures on this post, my camera is acting goofy!

First Birthday Party

We celebrated Keagan's birthday a few days early. Saturday we had friends and family over to celebrate his first birthday. It was so nice to see everyone and to catch up with old friends. Keagan had the best time and was such a happy boy. My mama made the cutest cupcake outfit for him to wear. I decided to do a polka dot theme for his first birthday. I figured he has the rest of his life to pick his own birthday theme. Keagan is really enjoying all his new gifts. Thank you to everyone for sharing in his special day!

Acting like a toddler

Somehow Keagan has figured out how to open the bathroom door. This may not seem like much but I have a feeling it is going to change my life! Today I was cleaning the house while I thought he was playing quietly!! HA HA, like I mentioned in a previous post I'm still learning. I turned the corner and looked into the bathroom and this is what I saw:

I then walked into his room where he was playing and found that he had pulled every book out of his book bin! In the time it took me to clean everything up he had dumped the dog food and water all over the kitchen floor and pulled the books off the bookshelf in the living room! After all this havoc about an hour later I loaded and turned on the dryer. Everything seemed normal until I heard something metal in the dryer. Keagan had somehow put my spare keys into the dryer!!! He doesn't even walk yet!!

Supermom

I was telling a friend of mine all about Keagans Birthday plans, what I have done so far and what I still have left to do. Jokingly she replied "you are such a supermom"! I laughed it off at first and then after we finished talking I thought to myself, why would someone think I am a supermom? I am so far from being a supermom. Everyday I learn something new about being a mom. One day you think you have something figured out and then next day everything changes. I love being a mom but I certainly am not a better mother than anyone else. I make mistakes everyday and learn from them. I don't want anyone to think that I am a better mother than they are. I think as mothers we should all support each other and share information to make our daily lives easier! Here is a picture of Keagan wearing his favorite blanket as a superman cape!

These Shoes are made for walking

Last week I got Keagan a new pair of shoes and he wasn't to sure what to think about them! We tried them out for the first time when we went to watch Sean play softball. I asked Keagan to point to his new shoes for the picture. He is such a smarty pants! I think all his little shoes are so cute but I miss seeing his cute little toes!

Poor Keagan has been really sick lately. He has had an ear infection and a throat infection. He has been running a fever, coughing and sneezing. He wakes up several times a night crying! I feel like I have a newborn again. I didn't realize how much I miss my sleep. Hopefully he will start to feel better soon and return to our sweet boy. Here is a picture of my cranky boy:

ugh!

Some people have no filters! I would never ask a women when she is due unless I was 100% positive that she was pregnant, I don't just assume information. I cant count how many times people ask me or refer to Keagan as a girl. He is NOT a girl. He will be wearing a blue outfit and he is in a green stroller and people still think he is a girl. I know he has longer hair and its curly so I can only guess that's what makes him look girly. Ugh..Some people!
